Unlike the Catrinas made of paper using the alebrije technique, these exquisite and delicate sculptures are a lot more appealing and exclusive. They´re THE MEXICAN CRAFTS par excellence.

I have a deep love for the figure of the Catrina, this picturesque Mexican Icon representing Death in a glamorous, feminine and elegant way. Yes, I’ve got my Gothic side, haha, and it finds this sweet “Calaca” delicious and extremely charming. One thing that always has fascinated me about this culture is its ancestral respect for the “Guardian of the Passage” to the other world and their unique way to celebrate it. My favorite Mexican Festivity is “Día de Muertos” (Halloween) with all its colorful, folkloric, macabre yet funny references to the realm we’re all going to visit one day.
